Every love story is beautiful, but ours is our favourite.
Some stories begin with a grand gesture. Ours began with a friendship, a goodbye that wasn't forever, and a surprise reunion in a hallway at BYU — followed by a very anxious text message and a very long five minutes of watching the typing indicator.
Abbie and Asante first crossed paths through a mutual connection — and even then, something clicked. They became fast friends, the kind who could talk for hours and always leave the conversation wanting more.
Life shifted and circumstance pulled them apart. Abbie, being the loyal and gracious person she is, stepped back — and Asante respected that too. They went their separate ways, but the friendship never really left either of them.
Asante volunteered at BYU's Information Systems orientation — the same program he had quietly coached Abbie through applying for. He had no idea she'd gotten in. And then she walked through the door. He gave her a little grief, she laughed it off, and just like that, they were back.
At an IS program event, Asante watched Abbie light up a room full of professors and classmates and thought: I need to do more things with this person. He went home and sent the text. She started typing. Then kept typing. Five of the longest minutes of his life. Then: "I want to spend more time with you too."
What started as hangouts and late conversations became something neither of them could ignore. On November 15th, 2025, they made it official — and everything has been amazing ever since.
And now, surrounded by the people they love most, Abbie and Asante say yes to a lifetime together. We're so glad you're here to witness it.
